Let’s talk previous permanent makeup...first and foremost, I have had my brows tattooed for 16 years...they are overly saturated with ink! There is literally very little I can do with my current brows unless I want to laser remove them 😰 or go drastically thicker 😱 sooooo I stick with the old school style of tattooed brows (some say the “cholla” look 🤣) and I’m ok with that! BUT not everyone is ok with that and they come in with brows previously done that are uneven, different colors (sometimes pink, blue, green 😧), saturated in ink, one is shorter, one is thicker, one is crooked, the list goes on!!!!! I actually love working on brows with previous permanent makeup...it’s a challenge...it’s a bitch, but I love the idea of creating something beautiful and better! The reason for this post is when you’re going to see a permanent makeup artist, INSIST they measure you! INSIST they show you the color options! INSIST they show you a outline that you approve before they start!!! I have 2 examples with this post that shows these women mapped out where they would be even. Both of there previous work is so off that it made them very interesting to work on BUT we have created better brows!!! (Those pics included too!)I explain to these clients that they may not have 100% perfect brows when its all said and done (depending on the condition they are in), I will try my absolute hardest to get them to an even better place! Long story short, be a part of the process! My clients know everything going on, approve everything and don’t leave until they are happy!!!! It’s how it should be for everyone! Thanks for reading! Who gets permanent makeup? That's a good question! Alot of women get it for the following reasons: • To naturally enhance their current appearance. •To wear makeup when traditional makeup results in allergic reactions or skin sensitivity. • To look their best even when working out, something that’s especially important for athletes who train all the time. • To never worry about sweating off or smudging makeup. • To be able to wear makeup even when visually challenged, which can make applying makeup difficult. • To be able to wear makeup even when faced with dexterity problems like arthritis. • To always have makeup applied even when their life or career provides little personal time. Butttttt permanent makeup has truly evolved! One procedure that I currently offer in my studio is called scalp micropigmentation or scalp esthetics! Scalp micropigmenation is an advanced non-surgical procedure, where cosmetic, semi permanent pigments are used to create the idea of a fuller head of hair. This is a procedure I personally have done on myself and I can tell you, that it has truly done wonders for my self confidence! This procedure isn't just for "balding men". It can be used to treat men AND women whom have areas of density on their scalp. I started losing my hair towards the front of my hairline about 4 years ago (after my pregnancy) and it never grew back in as full as it used to be! You could see my scalp in most pictures if my hair wasn't positioned in just the correct spot! In my mid 30's, I cringed at my options...Hair implants are costly and not an option! Using powders to achieve a more full look just gets messy! Rogaine burned my scalp and didn't do anything! Having scalp micropigmentation as an option was a life saver! Other services that are offered within the permanent makeup industry include areola tattoos also know as 3D nipples. This procedure is a realistic looking solution for breast cancer survivors, people have very fair areolas and breast reconstruction. (Symmetrically Beautiful by Salina is not currently offering this service) Another procedure offered is scar camoflauge! Have old superficial acne scars that bother you? A darker scar that bothers you? Scar camoflauge might be the answer! Below is an example of a client who has bad scarring from an accident! She has black spots permanently on her face! Picture shows 2 treatments, but we have since completed her 4th treatment and she has about 95% coverage on the areas! She will need to come in every 6 - 12 months for a touchup but otherwise, her treatments are complete!
Think of your permanent makeup as a couch that’s placed near a window or outside: the more it’s exposed to sunlight, water, and other elements, the quicker it will fade. The same will happen to your permanent makeup over time, although it’s unlikely that it will ever fade away completely.
There are a few ways to keep your permanent cosmetics looking fresh, including: • Wear SPF whenever you leave the house. Slather on a sunblock that has a minimum SPF of 45. • Don’t exfoliate the area with the cosmetic tattoo. • Use Vaseline over the makeup to protect it from fading when you go swimming. • Expect to make appointments to enhance or refresh the tattoos. You’ll also want to do this if you want to change the color or style of your permanent makeup, or give yourself an overall new “look.” The lighter the color of the permanent makeup, the quicker it will fade and the more touchup appointments you’ll need. • Use mild topical products and if you notice that a product is quickly fading the tattoo, switch to another product. • Avoid having processes done to the skin, like facials and skin peels. • Some medications can speed up the fade rate of permanent makeup. If you regularly take a certain medication and you think it’s making your permanent makeup fade quickly, talk to your doctor about switching medications. How often you need to get your permanent makeup touched up depends on a lot of factors, but typically, these are the timelines for touchups: • Blonde makeup and light taupe makeup should be touched up every ten months to one year. • Medium-toned brown makeup needs to be touched up every year. • Dark brown and black makeup tones need to be touched up once every one or two years, depending on how quickly the makeup fades. Don’t believe a cosmetic tattoo artist who tells you that you won’t ever need a touch up! Even the most skilled permanent makeup specialists know that it’s impossible that a client will never need a touch up. The fact that permanent makeup fades has nothing to do with the skill of the person applying it. Have additional questions? Comment below or contact me! When people say "permanent" makeup, do they really mean 100% permanent, as in "it will never go away"? It can be hard to tell. After all, “perms” aren’t actually permanent – those curls fall out eventually! So how permanent is a cosmetic tattoo? “Permanent” is technically the right term, since the color will never leave your skin, but in terms of appearance, cosmetic tattoos aren’t permanent in the way you think they are – they fade and can also be removed with laser tattoo removal. Read on for more about the permanency of cosmetic tattoos.
At first, the permanent makeup will look extra dark, but it won’t stay that way. During the first several days, your cosmetic tattoo will appear darker than you expected because your skin is still healing. As the skin heals, you’ll notice that the permanent makeup lightens and softens. As your skin goes through the healing process, small scabs will form, giving the makeup a deeper appearance. Eventually, these scabs will slough off. However, don’t pick at them – if you do, you may permanently scar your skin or remove the implanted pigment, which could affect the tattoo. Like other tattoos, cosmetic tattoos will eventually fade. The good news is that permanent makeup fades gradually, so there won’t be any huge, noticeable difference all of a sudden. The more elements your face is exposed to (like if you spend your afternoons hanging on the beach and swimming in the ocean), the faster the permanent makeup will fade. The reason permanent cosmetics are called “permanent” is because the pigment is tattooed into the skin and can’t be removed by washing. Ultimately, when you get permanent makeup, color is injected into your body’s molecules and those molecules are permanently in your body, which means the color is as well. The actual permanency of cosmetic tattoos will vary from person to person – an individual’s body chemistry can cause a tattoo to fade quicker than the same tattoo on somebody else. Your age, how thick your skin is, how your skin scars, and other personal factors affect how dark your makeup will appear and how much it will fade over time, as well as how quickly it will fade. Have additional questions? Comment below or contact me! Let's talk brows...I have been messaged by ALOT of ladies asking questions mostly about microblading!
🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋🖋 Perfect brows for microblading: ALL BROWS! Brows that are thin, thick, lacking shape, not there at all, sparse, uneven, to small, has a scar, alopecia, to light...the list goes on!* ... Here's some of the questions I have been asked and I want to share! 👉 What is microblading❓Microblading is a form permanent makeup. It is a procedure where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Hair-like strokes with the tool are created to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Shading can be added, multiple colors to add depth, ombré style, powder effect to create a softer looking brows! The possibilities are endless! 👉 Do I have to shave my brows❓NO! Hell no! Haha! Microblading can be used to enhance what you already have or to completely create the look of a "normal" brow of hair! 👉 Does it hurt❓Yes and no BUT I do use topical anesthetic prior and during the procedure! Everyone is different! I can tell you that whatever pain you may feel, it's tolerable! 👉 Are you tattooing eyebrows on my face forever❓No. While I say permanent makeup, the truth is all permanent makeup that is done by someone trained correctly is only semi permanent. A normal tattoo goes into 7 layers of the skin. Permanent makeup only goes into 3. 👉 How do you know what color to use❓I have multiple pigments that have all been tested and have been proven safe to use! During the consultation, we discuss what you're looking for. I will choose some colors and test them on your skin...once we both agree, then we have officially found your color(s)! 👉 How long do the results last❓A lot of the answer to this question is YOUR at home care. If you're applying sunblock, avoiding excess exfoliation of the area, staying away from acid peels, chances are the results are going to last anywhere between 2-4 years! 👉 Is this a one time procedure or do I have to come back multiple times❓Most procedures I do, whether it's microblading, eyeliner, scalp Esthetics...it requires at least one touch up. When we initially perform the procedure, the skin is "virgin" skin...this means it could retain the pigments beautifully or it means it might not! Everyone is different! Most brows require 2 appointments and if done in the specific recommended time, the touch up is included in your total price! 👉Are you using tattoo ink❓NO!!! I am using pigments designed for permanent makeup! Most pigments are iron or zinc base while most tattoo inks are lead or titanium based! 👉How do you know what kind of brows are meant for me❓Consultation!!! I don't even start the procedure until you have agreed to any potential designs! I tell my clients to bring in pictures of what they are looking for too! We are creating YOUR perfect brow!!! 👉Will I have to continue to groom my brows❓Yes...unfortunately microblading does not make your unwanted hairs stay away...it does however create the beautiful shape and fullness you are looking for without having to figure out just which hair to remove to achieve that "perfect" shape! Do you have more questions⁉️ Comment below or contact me!!! I'm happy to answer any all all questions!! *Eyebrows that have received permanent makeup treatments previously may not be a candidate for microblading. A free consultation would be required! Pictures shown are NOT my work. Let's talk eyelash extensions! I have been asked a ton of questions about lash extensions...
🌸 How long do they last? That's up to you! A full set can last up to 4 weeks...big emphasis on the "can". At home care plays a BIG role on the retention. Not to mention you lose around 21 of your own natural lashes in just one week!!! 🌸 How often do I need fills? Again, this is up to you! Want constant ...full lashes, then you will probably need fills once a week! Most clients extend there fills to 2-3 weeks. Only you can be the judge of that! After 4 weeks, usually a full set will be required! 🌸 How long is the procedure? For a full set 3-4 hours! For a fill anywhere between 1-3 hours! Below covers pros AND cons of eyelash extensions and hopefully answers any additional questions! 👍PRO and 👎CON 👍 Glamour for Special Occasions: One advantage of false lashes is that they can deliver a glamorous “pop” unlike anything you could ever get with your real lashes and makeup alone 😍 👎 Glue: Let's face it, glue is messy, and the kind that comes with false lashes is no exception. Not only might you get it stuck to your fingers if doing it at home, but even technicians aren't perfect, and might have an accident and get glue somewhere you don't want it. 😱 👍 Convenience: Sick of having to apply mascara every single day? Well, lash extensions definitely transform your lashes into a thick, full, luscious lashes! 🤘 👎 Potential Damage: False eyelashes can look amazing, but they come with the risk of potentially hurting your real lashes. The weight they put on your natural lashes can increase lash fallout, and the glue can make lashes brittle, leading to breakage. 😰 👍 Optional desired looks: Eyelash extensions now come in all kinds of styles, colors, and materials, each uniquely suited for a particular look, meaning there's something for just about everyone and any occasion. 💁🏻 👍👎Cost and Maintenance: If you want falsies, be prepared that it's a commitment in more ways than one. Special cleaning regimen, keeping them brushed nicely and even drying them when they get wet!!! Fills are done every 1-4 weeks...eyelash extensions are similar to getting your nails done every couple weeks! 💅🏻 So while eyelash extensions can give you a beautiful glamorous look daily 👸🏻, it's important clients understand just what they are signing up for 🤷♀️! From personal experience, I LOVE having lash extensions, I love how they look and honestly I barely wear any eye makeup because of them BUT they are high maintenance 😳! No sugar coating it! But to me, personally, the pros outweigh the cons! 👍Only you know the answer for you! If you're not sure about extensions, ask me about Lash Lift procedure! Results last 4-8 weeks, best part, its your own lashes! No extensions or glue and very low maintenance!!! Any more questions, please comment below or contact me privately! |
